Hotel Schwarzes Rössl

Right in the heart of Salzburg, this hotel has a good feel to it. The staff made us feel very welcome. I’d highly recommend it, and thanks to everyone!

It’s an easy 15-minute walk from the train station, in a safe area near restaurants and just across one bridge from the old town. My dorm-style double was basic, with a bath and mini fridge, and the rate felt high for that kind of room, though the location makes up for it. I was in room 107, right above a very popular music bar that stayed open and played very loudly. I didn’t mind the noise and slept well. They kindly offer tea and cake early in the morning. I’d come back.

The room was spacious and nicely decorated, and it was remarkably good value for the location. There’s a small break room with light refreshments, and the staff were helpful. It’s right in Salzburg centre and not too far from hauptbanhoff. The shared bathroom might put some people off, but it wasn’t an issue for me.

My bed gave way in the middle of the night, so I couldn’t get a decent night’s sleep. There was no one on duty and no emergency number to call, leaving me wondering if I was meant to fix it myself. For what I paid, that was unacceptable. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
