Art Relax Hotel Bergwelt

The kids’ club was a big hit, especially the pizza making, and Victoria put on fantastic activities for all the children. Every staff member we met, from reception and the bar to the shuttle drivers, was exceptional. Our room was comfortable and cleaned beautifully every day. This hotel is an absolute gem, and we’d definitely return. It was our best ski holiday ever.

The panorama bar was the weak spot for us. Service there was slow, and the afternoon tea came with dry cakes that weren’t very good. I’ve seen earlier reviews mention the bar too, so it’s disappointing that nothing seems to have changed. The rest of our stay at Bergwelt was fantastic. It’s a gorgeous hotel with a warm, relaxed, classy atmosphere and lovely Austrian hospitality. We were welcomed with drinks, and our room was spotless and beautifully decorated. The spa has plenty to enjoy, including an outdoor heated pool under the stars and snow. The food was superb, with a five-course menu every evening. There’s ski-in, ski-out access, plus free transfers to and from ski school for beginners. We’ll be back for next year’s ski holiday.

The kids missed having some entertainment, and the playroom wasn’t open. We also had a few staff interactions that felt a bit off, so customer service could use some work. Still, our stay at Bergwelt was pleasant. The facilities were clean, comfortable, and family-friendly, and we enjoyed the amenities and atmosphere.

We liked the spa, especially the heated outdoor pool, and the breakfast buffet had lots of variety and good products. The ski room was convenient, with easy access and plenty of space, and the shuttle drivers to the main ski area were great. Our C2 suite was nicely furnished, though smaller than other rooms we’ve had at this price, and it faced away from the ski area with little of a view. Getting to the slopes takes at least a five-minute walk to reach the area where you can ski down to a button lift. The return is trickier, with a very flat stretch that’s almost impossible to cross on skis, so we had to walk back for seven minutes in our boots. It’s close to the slopes, but it isn’t ski-in/ski-out. Service at the bar felt inattentive, almost dismissive. At breakfast and dinner staff were friendly, but we had to keep asking for water and wine refills. Charging 4 EURO for each small bottle of tap water at dinner felt ridiculous after paying for half-board, especially since the same water was free at breakfast and in the rooms. This charge wasn’t advertised anywhere. There was already water damage on the bathroom ceiling in our suite. At night, water leaked onto our heads and then into the sink. When we told reception, they barely acknowledged it and didn’t apologize. One evening there was also a communication mix-up at dinner. The hotel had made the mistake, but argued with us and treated us very poorly. We enjoyed our stay, though we wish the property had handled these issues with more consideration.
