Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel

The standout at Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna was the staff. Service was outstanding, and Lindsey, Kari, and Daysel at breakfast were especially wonderful. Medhi at the door was another of the people who made a difference. The hotel is beautiful and our room was extremely nice. We had a fantastic stay in Vienna, thank you all for making it so memorable.

The birthday touches made this stay so memorable. For my mum's 70th, she received two lovely bouquets, one in the room and another at our designer lunch. Breakfast and lunch were delicious, and everything felt carefully thought through. At checkout, Dominik gave us a handwritten thank-you card signed by the whole team, then went to great lengths to find a bag so Mum could travel safely with both bouquets and her birthday cake. Dominik had been helping even before we arrived, sorting bookings and special requests. When I changed a few plans, he handled it kindly and easily. He greeted us personally, and because I'd mentioned Mum couldn't walk far, he arranged a room upgrade near the elevator without us asking. That small detail made a big difference. Everyone, from the restaurant and bar to room service and housekeeping, was warm, attentive, and friendly. Nothing seemed like too much trouble, and there was always a smile and a solution. Dominik's thoughtfulness, resourcefulness, and real passion for hospitality stood out. With him and the whole team, this became one of the most magical and memorable hotel stays we've had.

The lobby at Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna is one of the most beautiful spaces in the city. We know the lobbies at Park Hyatt, The Ritz-Carlton, Mandarin Oriental, and Rosewood, and Anantara still stands out. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and beautifully designed, and the service is phenomenal. The property is well maintained, and we had nothing to complain about. We stayed here before when it was operated by Kempinski, and the changes since Anantara took over have greatly raised the hotel's quality. In my view, it's now among Vienna's very best choices. It surpasses Park Hyatt Vienna, which costs roughly twice as much, while Anantara's overall standard feels twice as good. A big thank you to manager Mr. Vedad Bakovic for his professionalism and hospitality, which made our stay even more memorable. We'll definitely return many times.

We stayed in room 155 with our cat from 29.12.2025 to 3.01.2026. The gourmet restaurant was amazing, a truly unique experience, and the sauna and steam bath were very good. The SPA staff were also helpful and friendly. The pool, though, is very small and the water quite cold, so you can't really swim or enjoy a proper whirlpool experience. The entrance, lobby, and reception have impressive design and are fully renovated. The first floor and our room seemed only partly refurbished, though. Rooms are listed as 32 to 38 square meters, but the difference seems so slight that it's hard to tell what you've booked. We were supposedly given a free upgrade at check-in, but I couldn't understand what that meant or how small our original room was. The first night was cold because the A/C fan ran without heat. Maintenance fixed it the next morning. There was also a large yellow carpet stain at check-in, but housekeeping cleaned it quickly the next morning after we asked. Lobby bar service was good, though far from outstanding. We only had breakfast on our last morning, before checkout, and my wife found hair on her pancakes. The waiter apologized, as expected at a five-star hotel, but better if it hadn't happened. Sadly, the hotel overall doesn't live up to the building's beauty and history. We've stayed twice at the Anantara in Budapest and once in Amsterdam, both outstanding experiences, and this wasn't what we'd hoped for. The hotel's a five-star property, sure, but it isn't an iconic five-star like some on the ring strasse. It didn't feel worth the price. With expectations so high, it was disappointing, not five-star for us, and not even four-star.
