10/10
The breakfast was generous and had plenty of variety, better than I expected after reading some negative reviews. I found the staff especially warm and accommodating. My room was spacious, clean, and well cared for, with lots of towels provided. Hotel Shild was comfortable and good value, and I'd be glad to stay again.

We got around easily despite the hotel's distance from the city centre, since the bus stop is very close. Parking on the street was available, but we used the hotel's own parking because it felt convenient and safe. Our room was roomy and comfortable, and the bathroom was larger than expected. We had a very pleasant stay and would recommend the hotel.

Breakfast was the bright spot here. The place may have been lovely years ago, but now it feels run down: broken windows, a front door that wouldn't open, and damaged pavement right outside the entrance. The beds were uncomfortable for the room price. Staff were nice enough when they were around, and they let us switch rooms because of one of these issues.

In room 27 at the end of September 2025, there was no heating and no hot water. I had also paid €19.90 for a parking space, but it had been booked for someone else at the same time. I had to park on the street and got the money back. Wouldn't recommend.

There's plenty of potential for this hotel to feel like a home away from home, but poor teamwork and upkeep are letting the place down.
