Hotel Garni Tirol

We booked a larger, more expensive apartment through booking com because we were travelling with a young child. It was meant to have a separate bedroom, its own bathroom, a kitchen annex, and a living room. What we were offered on arrival was a completely different, much smaller and cheaper room: basically a standard hotel room, with no separate bedroom and only a kitchen annex at most 1m wide, tucked into a cupboard about 2 m from the bed. Even though we had pictures of the place we’d booked, the owner kept insisting for quite a while that this was it. In the end, she said it was the only room she could give us that day, and we could either accept it or leave. We were exhausted after 10h of driving and had gone an extra 20 km to reach the hotel, but we couldn’t accept what felt like an attempt to cheat us. We asked for our money back in cash and left. I later found comments from other users describing similar cases of cheating. The checkout time in the hotel rules and on booking com was 10.00 am, but before we arrived, the Owner emailed to demand that we leave by 9.30. When we asked why it had to be 30 min earlier, especially since leaving with a small child can be unpredictable, she said she had to leave reception earlier that day 🤣🤣🤣. The owner speaks English, but replied to our messages in German 👍👍. Perfect hospitality. I recommend avoiding this place.

The apartment was spacious, the view outstanding, and parking was free. Absolutely recommend it 👍🏻

The rooms were clean and had nice views, the breakfast was delicious, and the staff were amazing.

We had a lovely room and found it easy to check in, even earlier than planned. Breakfast had a wide choice, so there was something for everyone, and we enjoyed chatting with the friendly hosts over it. We spent Easter at Hotel Garni and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location, views, and pleasant atmosphere all made it a hotel we’d happily return to in Walchsee.
