Albury Clifton Motel

We stayed at this cosy motel twice. It's dated and could do with some work, but it was clean and welcoming. Breakfast is free, and the manager is approachable and accommodating. We'd recommend staying here.

A basic place, but it worked well for our few days and we'd stay again when passing through. The main shopping centre is within walking distance, and the toast and cereal breakfast was fine for us. They do have off-street parking, though manoeuvring can be tight, especially at the back. In fairness, the motel was probably built before cars got so big.

The rooms were clean, tidy and refreshing, with a comfy bed and an extra blanket. There was a table and chairs for two, a full-height mirror, and both a screen door and a solid door, with a latch to lock the screen door. The rooms were nice and had the facilities needed for a stay. Staff were very friendly, and it's close to the main street. On-site parking is available, though a 4WD might find it a tight squeeze. Otherwise, ⭐🌟

Right in the CBD, it's about 200 metres from the magnificent Albury railway station and an easy walk to pubs and restaurants. It's superbly quiet at night. The motel looks like it probably dates from the 1950s or 1960s, and hasn't tried to make that old-school look trendy. Rooms are spotlessly clean, the tariff is a bargain, and breakfast is included. Modern comforts include RC/AC, king beds, plenty of hot water and fluffy towels. A real find!
