The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel

I came back in Jan 2026 after a stay a couple of years earlier, and was glad to find this is still a welcoming, quality place. The staff were wonderful from the start and took care of our specific requirements, making everything comfortable and stress-free. Our room was spacious, immaculate, and just right. We also ate at the restaurant. The dishes we chose were perfectly cooked and nicely presented, and the staff there were wonderful as well.

Parking was a real plus, especially since we could leave the car after checkout, and check-in and checkout were quick and easy. The staff were friendly, fantastic, and always ready to help. The room was spacious, with a super-comfy bed that made for a good night's sleep. Right in the centre, so getting around was easy. I'd recommend it and would gladly stay again.

The location of The Old Woolstore worked really well for our short visit. The docks and CBD are easy to reach on foot, and both our tour pickup and the Skybus stop were practically at the door. Our second-floor room was comfortable and surprisingly quiet. The gym below was very loud in the hallway, especially when someone used the treadmill, but we couldn't hear it once inside. At about 11pm on the first night, a fire alarm sent us out to the carpark. That was unfortunate, though it was dealt with quickly. The next day, around 1:30pm, we came back with shopping and found our room door wide open, cleaning tools on the floor, and nobody there. Anyone could have walked in and taken things, including the cleaner's ipad, which was left out. I reported it at reception. Management called soon after and said the cleaner had stepped into the supply closet and “hadn't left the room for very long”. When I said guest rooms shouldn't be left open and unattended, they apologised and suggested the cleaner might be new. We were very shaken by the security breach and would hesitate to stay again, though I appreciated how promptly management followed up.

We had a clean, comfortable connected three bedroom apartment with plenty of room, a kitchen, and laundry facilities. It was around a 10-minute walk to the CBD (Woolies) and close to the pier. Reserving a parking space onsite was a big advantage when many CBD hotels only have valet or street parking. The old woolstore building has charm, though ground-floor rooms can be cold and short on natural light. Kids running around in the room above us were noisy, but reception staff were friendly and helped sort it out. Good value compared with other city hotels, and we'd recommend it.
