We booked one night before taking the ferry home and were pleased to find our room seemed to have been upgraded. The building is old and quirky, possibly haunted, which we loved. Our room was clean and comfortable, with plates and cutlery that made dinner easy. The area was okay, though it didn’t feel the safest to me. The deadbolts and reception locking overnight helped, but I’d have liked someone on staff 24/7. I’d stay again, but probably only for one night because of the local area. There was a lot to like, although our two-bedroom setup had just one portable unit, really a loud fan rather than air conditioning. It was very warm in both rooms. We were at the back, so traffic wasn’t an issue, though I can see a front room being noisy. A floodlight outside our room stayed on and made it really bright.

The broken basin tap and toilet seat were bad enough, and the roller blind wouldn’t close properly, letting in the lights at night and early morning. The pub sits on the corner of two very busy roads, so I hardly slept. Thank goodness I was only there one night. Give it a miss.
