The tables and venue were clean and well kept, and our order arrived in under 20 minutes even though the kitchen was being renovated. Everything came on disposable tableware, and it was a fairly quiet visit to the Boomerang Motor Hotel' bar/restaurant. The chicken parmigiana was quite good, and I enjoyed the sweet potato fries, though there weren't many. The beef burger and slider were disappointing and short on flavour.

We were really impressed by lunch in the new beer garden at the Boomerang Hotel. It's a cool, relaxing place for a meal and drinks, and being able to keep an eye on the kids in the play area made a big difference for us. The food was fresh, delicious, generous and beautifully presented, with everything served promptly. Service was friendly, attentive and welcoming without going overboard. Such a lovely atmosphere all round. We'll be back!

I slept well during my two nights, which was the one good part of the stay. In Room 6, I opened the blinds in the morning to discover the window was boarded up and didn't exist. There were lots of little insects on the floor, and the bathroom was tiny. At $180 a night, it was very poor value. Some colleagues stayed in cheaper hotels that were much better, and next time I'm in Mackay I'll choose somewhere else. I wouldn't recommend it to a friend.

The bar staff were good, but my $50 steak was supposed to be medium rare and came out well done. What a waste.

We got the share plate and there was loads for just two people. It came with pork bites, meatballs, arancini balls, onion rings, wedges, chicken skewers and garlic bread. Delicious! It was $49, or $39 if you joined the pub app at the table. The place has just been renovated, with a large beer garden, big screen and playground, plus heaps of space for big groups. Totally recommend.
