There was no kettle despite the listing, so we couldn't make tea or coffee, and the bathroom entrance stayed flooded throughout our visit. The bathroom doorknob came off in my hand, trapping me inside for half an hour while I called for help. We had only sheets and no blanket, and nowhere proper to hang clothes. The stairs had few, if any, handrails, and my elderly father fell because there was nothing to hold onto. This was the worst place I've ever stayed. Do yourself a favour and avoid it, you'll regret it.

We booked a twin room for a week, but left after the first night. The place is actually called The Wray. If you book through booking.com, don't choose Beaconsfield: those contact details don't work, and nobody replied to our emails or messages. Check-in is via the bar downstairs, since there's no reception. The room had a fan but was still extremely hot. Opening the window meant being kept awake by insane main-street noise, so it was either sweat or stay up all night. The shared bathrooms were unisex, dirty, and had only two showers for about ten rooms. We saw no staff around, and nobody was there after hours when the bar was closed. We tried to leave at 7.30am, but couldn't reach anyone using the listed contact details. booking.com gave us another number, which reached a random guy who told us to wait for the duty manager to start at the bar at 10.30. Sorting it out between them and booking.com took hours because the phone numbers for The Wray and The Beaconsfield didn't match. By the time it was resolved, it was 3pm, and they charged us for a second night. The place is cheap but not worth it, avoid it. The only good part was that the bar staff at The Wray were friendly and tried to help. The manager hid in his office while we were trying to sort things out.

We’d just moved to Beaconsfield, and I’d been keen to try the Wray Hotel. We went into the meal area for a drink and a few snacks, but were quickly told the hotel was closed, even though it looked like they were getting ready for the football crowd. No one explained why we couldn’t be served, and we were ushered straight back out. After that unfriendly welcome, I’m not sure we’ll return. I also don’t know why this is listed under Beaconsfield Hotel.

After more than a week, I still haven’t had a reply or refund, despite sending several emails and messages and making calls. Booking.com also contacted the property for me. This followed the reception staff telling me to request a free cancellation because my Deluxe Queen Room didn’t match the photos, and assuring me they would accept it. A very disappointing stay and poor service. I wouldn’t recommend booking unless you’re ready for surprises.

The bar food was great, and the staff looked after me well, even though I had a late check-in while the cleaners were still working. You get what you pay for. It’s above a pub, so yes, there’s noise. Some of the complaints here need to suck it up.
