Palms Hotel Motel Chullora

There was ample parking, and it was easy to book an extra night. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. The bistro had good, affordable choices, and the arcade was useful with kids. It's close to late-night fast food, shopping and Sydney Olympic Park. Our room was comfortable, with good hot water, and the TV and AC worked properly, though the carpets weren't very clean. We were disappointed to be allowed to check in before the room was ready, then rushed out before checkout time.

The booking was easy, and a lovely woman checked us in and promptly showed us to the room. After that, the stay was a letdown. There was a lot of dust, and it looked like the air-conditioning filters hadn't been cleaned since 2010. The bathroom door stuck, the lighting was poor, there was no exhaust fan, and the TV didn't work. At dinner, staff sitting two tables away talked loudly, swore and made inappropriate comments. It felt completely unprofessional and uncomfortable. Smoke also hung throughout the area. The pokies are supposed to be in a separate section, but the smoke clearly travels, so that separation doesn't seem effective. We won't be back.

The room had a strange smell that never went away, and the customer service felt bland and unwelcoming when we arrived. From the photos on booking.com, my partner and I thought it looked like a nice place for the night. Instead, much of the furniture was peeling or coming apart, including a cabinet door with a missing hinge. The carpet felt damp, and the bed wasn't very comfortable.

It looked completely different from the pictures. The bed was broken and felt like it could fall apart, and the quilt was dirty. The cabinet was broken too, and there was mold on the wall. The TV remote didn't work, and the wireless network was barely usable. I really can't recommend it.
