Hostel Balkan Han

I loved the place itself. The hostel is colorful and beautiful, with a real backpacker feel, and it's easy to meet people from all over the world there. The problem was payment. We couldn't use a credit card when we arrived, even though the website and Hostelworld said cards were accepted. We couldn't get cash in Bosnia at all, so we'd been choosing hostels based on that information. I tried explaining this to the owner several times, but he didn't make an effort to understand and was very rude to us on the phone. Because of how he handled it, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The guests made for a good atmosphere, and everyone kept quiet after the set time, so we all slept well. I visited in October, when it was neither too busy nor too quiet. The staff were nice, the showers were warm, and the place was clean with a cool, funky design. A nice spot in Sarajevo. Hvala.

I visited in winter and found the hostel really comfortable. It captures the hostel atmosphere well. The bathroom and toilet are on the small side, but they're adequate. I'd recommend it.

I can't recommend this hostel. The owner or manager treats the volunteers who work there very badly. He seems unable to control his emotions and shows little respect for people. He was also impolite and prejudiced toward customers with a migration background. I found him one of the most unfriendly people I've met.
