Maria chose to honor our booking instead of canceling it, because she wanted to make someone happy. We're very grateful for her kindness and generosity, and now have a funny, memorable story about staying in Bruges for 1 euro. 🤗 We'd booked the room for 9 euros, which was 1 euro plus 8 euros in taxes. We were suspicious at first and wondered whether something was wrong with the house or if it was a scam, but decided to go and see what a 1-euro stay would be like. Maria welcomed us warmly when we arrived, then explained the pricing mistake while we sat at her living room table. She had entered 1 euro on Booking.com, then got a phone call before she could add the two zeros. She forgot to fix it later. We lucky guests booked at 1 euro just before she spotted the error and changed it back to 100 euros.

Maria is very helpful with tourist tips, and the location is peaceful and convenient, about 1 km from the center. Breakfast is served at 9 on the dot and includes coffee, an omelet or 2 eggs, slices of bread, and two kinds of jam. There was no drinking water provided, and no toiletries such as shampoo or body soap.

Maria's warm hospitality makes you feel welcome, safe, and at ease with your privacy. Her place is spotless and has a distinctive Italian and broader European style. She speaks several languages, and her warmth rubs off on you. She shares a detailed map of tucked-away spots and offers rebates for amenities in her hometown. We also loved her homemade jams and morning omelettes. I'd recommend staying here if you'd like a multicultural experience in Brugge. Thank you, Maria!

Maria took plenty of time to point us toward things to do in the city, which helped make our trip even more enjoyable. Her welcome was the warmest we've had at a Hotel/Hostel. The room was lovely, beautifully furnished with lots of detail, and very clean. An amazing place to stay in Brugge.
