Golden Tree Hotel

We spent four nights here with friends and found the staff friendly and very helpful. The buffet breakfast was excellent and kept us going all day, and there were plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars close by. The rooms were great, including one nice detail, a window in the bathroom. A friend had recommended the hotel, and I’d recommend it too.

Our trip was cancelled after sudden geopolitical tensions in the Middle East left us unable to get to Europe, despite repeatedly trying to rebook our flights. Every other hotel and service provider refunded us straight away, understanding how unusual the situation was. This property showed no flexibility, even after Booking.com said it was ready to support the refund and share the commission. The hotel still refused, treating what happened in the Middle East like any ordinary disruption to a customer’s plans. The rigid policy and lack of basic compassion during a genuine travel emergency were extremely disappointing. It left me with a bad impression of how the property responds when circumstances are beyond a guest’s control. I hope to find more guest-friendly hotels when we visit Bruges next time.

Reception staff were really welcoming and managed to arrange our early check-in. The hotel is just outside the main center but close enough to walk. Our room was a bit dark, and the walls were thin. When we got back late in the evening, the cleaner had left the window open and the light on, so mosquitoes had come into the room. The cleaners were also too forceful about whether to clean the room, even before checkout.

The rooms were decent, and housekeeping cleaned them and changed the towels every day. Reception staff were helpful, and the main entrance is lovely. It’s a great spot for walking easily to all the sights and attractions.
