Nick and Susie were about as accommodating as hosts get, and the breakfasts were superb. The homemade waffles really are the best in Bruges, as the reviews say. Our room was spotless and luxurious, with an incredible canal view. My partner, our two dogs and I stayed recently, and the many walks nearby kept us busy all week. We’ll be back.

The location worked so well, on a quiet street away from the busy squares but still just a short walk away. We stayed in the Dexter room, which was spacious and thoughtfully decorated. I didn’t expect a dog-friendly B&B to have such a luxurious room. The bed was comfortable, the bath was lovely for relaxing in the evening, especially with Belgian chocolate, and the view straight over the canal was beautiful. There was a comfy chaise chair and a swinging egg chair for enjoying it, plus a delicious tray of locally sourced teas and coffees. This was our first trip abroad with our dogs, and we were nervous about how it would go. Nick and Susie made us feel at home and at ease from the moment we arrived. The Dog House is truly dog friendly, treating dogs like part of the family. Our dog didn’t initially get on very well with their dog, but Nick and Susie were happy to keep them apart at times, which made things less stressful. We introduced them gradually and calmly, and it all worked out. We’ve just had three wonderful nights here, and it’s already one of our favourite places we’ve stayed. If you’re travelling with dogs, or just want a doggy ‘fix’ while away, this place is for you.

The room had quirky furniture and design, including a hanging chair and plunge bath, but it was clean, comfortable and relaxing. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming, and gave us excellent local tips. Their two dogs were lovely as well. Breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious, and the coffee was lovely too. It’s an easy walk to the city center from here. You can also borrow a couple of bikes and go for a ride.

This was my second stay with Susie and Nick, this time with friends instead of my husband. The location is ideal, just a few minutes’ walk from the center and also a few minutes from the hustle and bustle. Our accommodation was comfortable, stylish and well furnished, just marvellous. The hosts even went the extra mile with decorations for a special birthday. Highly, highly recommended.

Nick was a wonderful host and let us borrow the bikes for a ride, which was one of the highlights of our stay in Belgium. Each morning we had a delicious English breakfast, with a meat option for my partner and a veggie one for me, and both were great. We stayed three excellent nights at The Doghouse B&B with our dog Koji. Our room, 'Dexter', overlooked the canal and was beautifully decorated, with lovely finishing touches like the tea and coffee tray. The bath was amazing, and all the products smelled divine.
