Theater Hotel Leuven Centrum

The breakfast was superb each morning, and the service was impeccable. Staff went out of their way to help when my baggage was lost at the airport, and the cheerful woman at the front desk was wonderful to see each morning, though I forgot her name. The Theater Hotel is perfectly placed, with great views of the Theater and the Bondgenotenlaan. I came to Leuven to celebrate the 600th anniversary of my university's founding. The rooms could use an update, with new carpet, furniture, and a general refresh. I hope to return soon. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

A tasty breakfast buffet in a nice room, right in the heart of Leuven. The elevator ride is a bit of an adventure, but it's good value and I'd recommend it to budget travelers.

The location is great, the staff are very friendly, and breakfast is nice. But for a similar room rate, there are better options in Leuven. The hotel and both bedroom and bathroom feel old and dated. A big fancy picture doesn't make things modern, and the hallways are dark. I understand that some double rooms put two single beds together, but they should at least be fixed together or have locked wheels, so you don't end up in the gap. The owner said in the reply that ours was a twin room, but the booking site gives no way to know that, and we weren't told after booking. Noise was another problem. We could hear guests upstairs using the toilet as pipes seem to run through the room, and there was quite a lot of street noise from Bondgenotenlaan. I've stayed in other busy city hotels without that issue. The window ventilation openings probably contribute, since it sounds as though the windows are always open. The advertised “special” rate for Ladeuze parking is currently 20 euros instead of the regular 22 euros for 24 hours, so there's barely a discount.

I told the woman at reception about everything in person, but she didn't seem very interested and didn't apologize. The shower control was broken, so it only worked at nearly boiling temperatures. The carpet was filthy, and the drinking water bottle wasn't replaced over the several days I stayed.
