Expo Hotel Sofia

I left around 5 AM and asked for a breakfast pack instead of the included breakfast. There was a decent amount of food, but one sandwich was five days past its expiry date, the apple was rotten, and the other sandwich was close to going bad. The room itself was poorly maintained: hairs on the bathroom floor and in the tub, tiny cups that suited a medium coffee but not tea, and curtains that didn’t cover the windows properly. The toilet paper dispenser was like one in a public toilet and took both hands to use. The bin tipped over when I pressed its button, so I had to open it by hand, and there was no security pull cord in the bathroom. The room beside the elevators was really noisy, and the cheap pillows made it hard to sleep. The hotel has lost the beauty it had ten years ago. I’m very disappointed and won’t give it another chance.

For a four-star hotel, having no ventilation in the room is ridiculous. I mean ventilation, not air conditioning. The rooms are dated, you can’t set the temperature yourself, and the people at reception seemed like beginners. What is this?

It was so hot in my room, it felt like a prison. I couldn’t even open the window, and the temperature kept climbing to 27°, although the AC panel was set to cool. Climate control was basically nonexistent. The bathroom was dirty, with water stains on the ceiling and mold on the wall.

The room was like a sauna at 27°C, and I couldn’t open the window. Even the foyer and mini fridge felt cooler. I called reception, but the room phone seemed faulty, as others have said, so I went downstairs. The receptionist said she’d send someone RIGHT AWAY. She didn’t. I waited patiently for a technician or anyone to come check the room, but nobody showed up. That was the second time she’d lied to me, after telling me someone would come. There’s nothing wrong with just telling the truth. The water wasn’t warm either. With the room conditions and all these problems, this doesn’t meet a four-star standard, and I was extremely disappointed. Getting to the hotel was a mess too. They advertised a free shuttle, and when I emailed beforehand they confirmed a taxi would be waiting. At 3am there was no driver at arrivals. We’d have been stranded for hours if a random taxi hadn’t been outside. I messaged the hotel after waiting at the airport for minutes and got no reply. We would have understood if they’d said there was no shuttle, but they lied.
