Hotel Zoo Sofia

Nothing lived up to what was advertised. The room wasn't comfortable and the service was poor. A very disappointing stay. I wouldn't recommend this place or stay here again.

I travel to Sofia often for work. My usual hotel was fully booked, so I made a last-minute booking here without much thought. I regret it. The room was tiny, nothing like the photos, with barely enough space to take two steps past the bed. There was no proper desk or place to work on a laptop, which is a necessity in 2025. I guess you'd have to sit on the floor or bed. Even water cost extra, and so did parking. I've never before seen a hotel charge guests to park. The location is outside the city with no shops around. That didn't bother me, but it could matter to others. There was no sound insulation, so I could hear everything next door. The room smelled strongly of cigarettes. The first night, the smell on the pillows was so disgusting I couldn't sleep with them and went without. It left me wondering about hygiene and whether sheets and covers are changed between stays. The bed wasn't comfortable either. Breakfast was very weak, with only a few choices. I don't know if all rooms are the same, but the Wi-Fi in mine was very weak, worked only near the window, and sometimes disappeared completely. These are things I wouldn't expect even at a 2-3 star hotel. I won't stay here again and don't recommend it. You can get something much nicer for over $100 a day. On the positive side, the two women at reception were kind, and the heating worked well. I can't think of anything else.

The room was clean and nice, but although I asked for a king bed, the comforter on top was very small, probably meant for one person on a double bed. There was coffee, but no coffee whitener. Parking cost 15 Lev, and water was charged too. Once you add those costs, there are probably better options at this price.

Hotel Sofia Zoo was professional and hospitable from check-in through departure, and exceeded every expectation. They handled my unusual, time-sensitive room arrangement smoothly and put me at ease. Guest comfort clearly matters here. Special thanks to the manager, who personally checked every detail and followed up to make sure everything was perfect.
