The location, lobby, and service are great, and I think the place could improve with a little effort. The rooms leave a lot to be desired, so I’d only suggest staying one night if you mainly need a spot in the center of town. If you want to be comfortable and enjoy your room, this isn’t the place. We usually choose branded hotels with standardized rooms, and this felt like the tradeoff with a local chain. The hotel is small and the service is nice, but the rooms and plumbing need more investment. Our room and bathroom were tiny, on the first floor with hardly any sunlight, no view, and a window facing an alley. Each bed came with just one pillow, though staff kindly brought more. Towels were very thin and limited, and the beds were low. The refrigerator was brown and dirty, probably never cleaned, and the towel rod had rust marks. The toilet often needed more than one flush, and the water was always brown and discolored. One shower stayed cold no matter how long it ran, while the other person’s shower kept changing temperature.

The breakfast buffet at Yelo came with our booking, but I found the choice limited and underwhelming. I remember nasi lemak, lunch-type dishes like stir-fried vegetables and soup, plus cereal and bread. Another concern was that guest access to the elevator and stairs didn’t seem restricted by floor, unlike at other hotels. We booked a premier twin bed room in person a couple of months ahead and stayed one night. The room was comfortable, though a bit small, and entry used a key card. There was a smart TV, but no closet, just a clothing rack. Our window faced a building, so the view wasn’t good. The toilet was small and had a handheld shower. There were hot and cold water coolers in the corridor for refilling the reusable bottle supplied in the room or your own. The hotel didn’t provide parking, but staff said we could park wherever a space was available, and the hotel would reimburse any parking ticket fees.

The Brunei hotel is well kept and updated, and you can walk to basically all the sights in town. The pool shown in this Google listing by a “guest” isn’t connected to the hotel. There’s a health club about a five-minute walk away with a nice indoor pool. The hotel could easily get five stars, but charging existing guests $25 for a one-way airport ride is a rip-off when the ride itself costs under $10 for a car that holds four people. Hotels add perks to bring in guests, and they should charge the going rate for transport to show appreciation. Guests may choose other hotels offering free transport, even if they cost a little more, once they catch on to this scheme.

The central location made getting around really easy, and breakfast was tasty. My room felt cozy, the interior was pleasant, and the staff were so welcoming and helpful. I was only there for a day, but it was a very pleasant stay. Thank you :)

Our family had a memorable short stay, especially the kids. The van transport, our meal at Yelo, and the connecting rooms all made things easier. Thanks so much to everyone at the Brunei Hotel. We hope to see you again.
