Casa Grande Hotel

At this price, I expected the thermostat to work. The staff tried to help, but their fix for a hot room was to have a man stand there with a fan until he saw the temperature drop. Apparently the thermostat is just for show. I’d give the place zero stars if I could.

The breakfast buffet had lots of healthy choices and was great, and guest services were good too. Our room was spacious, facing the greenery and pool, which was a beautiful and convenient view. The pool was heated, and the Jacuzzy temperature was good. Parking was easy in the gated lot, which I appreciated since street parking seemed limited. The area felt safe, and the hotel is about 40 minutes from the airport. On the way back, Google Maps routed us onto very steep roads and our rental car struggled to climb them several times. I switched to Apple Map and navigated manually, and we made it to the airport. I looked at the rooftop bar but didn’t use it because it wasn’t as spacious as I’d hoped. I stayed two nights and wished I could have stayed longer. I’d recommend this hotel.

I checked out 22 days early after waking at midnight to find staff coming into my room while I was asleep. There were also bugs crawling on my towels; staff called them my “little friends” and only moved me after I tried to check out. The wallpaper was peeling and the pipes made a lot of noise. The room key cards often failed, leaving me and other guests locked out, but I was blamed for keeping mine near my cell phone. There were lots of staff, yet getting a receipt for my expense report took a coworker 30 minutes, even with six people at the desk. They also made me wait while someone checked the minibar at checkout and while they printed a receipt, and had me sign for breakfast that was free. The price list for towels and washcloths felt tacky. This place needs better management and maintenance.

The rooftop bar is a nice place, but the loud commentary from a football match ruined the experience. It was really disappointing, especially since none of us cared about the game except the waiters.
