Hotel Takana

We booked a room with three beds for the three of us, but the front desk guy seemed unsure which rooms were which and took us and our luggage around the hotel to see four rooms before we found one. He then tried to charge us more, so we took our money and left. None of the AC units worked, the mini fridge smelled like something had died in it, and there was visible mold on the walls. The rooms he showed us smelled strongly of body sweat and still had things left by previous guests, so they didn’t seem to have been cleaned. There were cobwebs and dust everywhere. Wires for old or possibly new lights were exposed in the hallways. The pool pump wasn’t working, so who knows what was growing in that water. Run from this hotel. Nasty place. I’d give it zero stars if I could.

The poolside was a nice place to sit, the bed was comfortable, and we had a great river view from the balcony. For an affordable stay that felt a bit nicer than the basics, it suited what my partner and I wanted for our two nights. Service was another matter. Breakfast was meant to run from 7:15 to 9:00, but at 7:15 we waited half an hour for it to be ready. When we came down at 8:30 the next day, some of the food was already gone. Laundry went fine except one item belonged to someone else. Reception was often unattended or had a child sitting there. On our last day, while I was still packing and well before checkout, a cleaner kept coming into the room with sheets for the next guests and made me feel rushed to leave. It worked for our needs, but don’t count on much service.

Right in the middle of town, and I especially enjoyed looking out at the river. The pool and rooms are kept in good shape and are consistently clean.

The rooms were good and the location was excellent. The coffee at breakfast wasn’t traditional.
