Pousada Agape

I really enjoyed staying at this lovely place with my family and pet. The service was excellent, and we had a great breakfast.

The chalets were spotless and well aired, and the staff were excellent, always helpful and ready to assist. The bathroom sink has heated water, which was especially useful in the cold. Breakfast was very good overall, with homemade breads, fruit, cakes, cold cuts, and other usual breakfast items. We arrived on Thursday afternoon. There were no scrambled eggs at Friday breakfast, but they were served on Saturday, when the inn was busier. I imagine they may have left them off Friday's menu to avoid waste, though I think they would have made some if we'd asked. The location is decent for the price compared with inns and hotels closer to Avenida Monte Verde, the town's main street. It isn't right in the center, though, so having a car makes getting to the avenue easier. You can walk, but it's about 1.5 km, including a stretch of dirt road. The way there is downhill and the return is uphill, which isn't impossible but may be tiring for some. We had a car, so it wasn't an issue for us. Firewood for the fireplace is available in the room for an extra charge. The beds have heated sheets, which are great for warming them up before going to sleep. There's also a minibar with still and sparkling water at fair prices.

Carol, who was in charge, was attentive, friendly, and efficient. Our weekend was wonderful, with a cozy chalet and a full, delicious breakfast accompanied by birdsong.

The inn is very peaceful, with a beautiful view all around. We were welcomed warmly, and the receptionist was so attentive. Breakfast was traditional, with plenty of variety, including fruit and fresh juices. I'd happily come back again.
