Lótus Hotel

Just okay.

The service is awful. The receptionist seems like he’s only there because he has to be, doesn’t help at all, and is really rude.

A good spot for a relaxing night, whether you’re with someone or on your own. 2

I stayed at Lotus for the Iemanjá party, even though most of what I’d read about the hotel was negative and I wasn’t sure what to expect. It turned out much better than I could have hoped. The receptionists were professional and attentive, and did their jobs really well. They treated me like a queen, better than anywhere expensive. Breakfast was another highlight. It was generous, and when you arrive they give you a sheet to mark what you want. You can only choose one drink, but there are no rules about the rest. I picked almost everything and it was fantastic. They brought it right to my room, which made things even more comfortable. I’d read about noise, and on the date I chose it was unavoidable. The hotel is very close to Rio Vermelho, so there wasn’t much they could do. In the end, it wasn’t that bad. I stayed in two different rooms, and the air conditioning worked perfectly in both. The shower worked well too, and the rooms and hotel were spotless. The bed wasn’t as hard as people say, and I slept well. There’s only one sheet, but reception will give you another at no charge if you ask. The neighborhood is simple and a couple of blocks uphill, but it’s quiet. I’ve lived in neighborhoods like that, so it didn’t bother me, and there are cheap restaurants nearby. The WiFi didn’t always work well, though, so I wouldn’t pick this hotel to work from. Also, not every room has a window. If you’re spending just a few days in Salvador and don’t have much to spend, this is a good fit. Things aren’t always as they seem, and I think the hotel deserves a better reputation. I recommend it!
