Gabe and Oty are wonderful hosts, and the house they built sits right on a river full of wildlife. We saw iguanas, fish, crabs, and beautiful birds all around. It’s a must-stay place. We’d planned to take an early boat to the islands, but talking with them about Belize was so laid-back and enjoyable that we decided to catch a later one instead. The bed and breakfast has a lot of history, too.

Gabby and Ottie are the best. They feel like part of our Belizean family now, and we look forward to seeing them every year. Their place is beautiful and clean, with cute gardens and comfortable beds. They also cook amazing meals. You can arrange tours and rides to and from the water taxi.

The rooms were spacious and really comfortable, and we couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Mrs. Otti and her husband were so helpful and accommodating. They even offered rides into the city since we didn’t have transportation. She welcomed us with a glass of red wine and showed us around. Zane had suggested this great city bed and breakfast.

D'Nest Inn is in Belama, near a bank and grocery/drug store, and not far from central Belize City. Gaby and Oti know the area and helped me sort out logistics. If Gaby is free, he charges the same as a local taxi to take you where you need to go, and he can pick you up at the airport too ($25US). I was traveling alone, and they even invited me to dinner one night at a place I never would have found myself. The rooms are lovely and very clean, with antique furniture, and there’s a pleasant balcony over the river. Breakfast is included, served in a dining room around a huge table where you can meet other guests. There’s air conditioning too. If you want it to feel like you never left the US, choose the Ramada or Best Western, though they cost a lot. For a way to see the real Belize right away, D'Nest Inn makes a great base for tours into the interior.

We had a pretty nice stay. The place is very nice and the people running it are lovely. It isn’t close to many things, which is easy to forget once you’re there. I’ll stay here again when I’m back in Belize City.
