Machaca Hill Lodge

We spent four nights in the canopy suite, surrounded by gorgeous jungle views. The food was wonderful and service from everyone was impeccable. Elon deserves a shout-out for the farm tour and river kayaking tour, and for all his knowledge about holistic uses for fruits and foliage. Tim served our food wonderfully and made the best vanilla lattes. We already plan to return for a longer stay. Highly recommend this resort.

Wildlife was abundant everywhere, and the guides were knowledgeable, personable, and helpful. The food at the restaurant was very good, and the service was great. With its birdlife, wildlife, and jungle scenery, this is a great spot for anyone enthusiastic about nature. The family villa had a lovely infinity plunge pool, but it could use a refresh. The queen bed was good; the king bed was hard, with worn-out springs. The shower in the master bedroom is dated and needs updating. From the restaurant’s main building, it’s 60 steps to the villa.

We had a lovely time at copal. The food was great, and I appreciated the focus on ingredients sourced locally and grown on site. All the staff were amazing and helpful. Desmond especially stood out for his knowledge of the region, birds, sea life, and everything in between. Thanks also to Elon for being so friendly and helpful, and for going the extra mile to make our stay great. Highly recommend it for a lovely mix of relaxation and adventure.

The grounds are beautiful, full of natural beauty, and the people are warm and soulful. There’s so much culture and knowledge passed down by the Mayan people. We saw loads of wildlife in the wild, untamed jungle: hummingbirds, toucans, howler monkeys, and coatimundis.
