Dreams Curacao Resort & Spa

The beach is lovely for snorkeling, and both the beach and pool areas are great. The property was clean, though it needs updating. Food was decent enough, but restaurants were often closed, leaving few places to eat. Maybe that was due to staffing shortages or cost cutting. Room cleaners did a good job, but there never seemed to be enough towels, and once I had to use a pillowcase as a bath mat. Towels, sheets, cutlery, and glassware all seemed in short supply. Most staff spent much of their time on their phones, apart from the entertainment team, who worked hard, especially with families. Hyatt needs to invest in the infrastructure and train staff in service. It's a shame, because the property itself is really nice.

The beach and ocean are fantastic, and the island and location are great. Service was inconsistent, though, ranging from great to terrible depending on who was helping. The beds were hard, and the room felt like a Hilton hotel room rather than a resort-style one. I didn't like the food, although the room service breakfast one morning tasted better. There are preferred bungalows that are much nicer but hard to get, with better service, a better room, and access to both Dreams and Zoetry resorts. The resort could use some care.

The room was nice, the staff were great, and we really enjoyed the pool and beach. David at the hideaway bar was awesome and made the best drinks. A lot of guests seemed impatient and demanding, which might explain some of the bad reviews. Honestly, I'd recommend dreams to friends and family looking for a relaxed resort on a gorgeous island.

I'd read reviews and was nervous enough to ask my travel agent about switching resorts, but we were so happy we stayed. It's a smaller resort, so the people recognize you and your group and are attentive. The food was great and the drinks amazing. The beach area is lovely, with all kinds of fish to see, and it never felt too crowded. There's entertainment throughout the day and evening. I'd definitely come back. Bring your own Yeti or similar cup.
