With just one other table occupied, we still got ignored. The food was really poor too, and tasted like the fryer oil hadn't been changed.

We were here for a hockey trip and had a great stay. The hotel was very nice, and both the food and service were awesome. I'll stay here on every hockey trip.

Dessert was a real highlight: the warm apple pie and lemon meringue with ice cream were both excellent. The server was welcoming and attentive, and even let us stay after closing. I was staying overnight at the motel attached to 121 Steakhouse, so having dinner here worked out well. The turkey and rice soup was comforting, and the steak nachos were popular at our table. We liked the spinach and cheese dip too. My steak was perfectly medium, though the shrimp on the side could have used more seasoning. The chicken with melted cheese was a little dry but still tasty. The continental breakfast came with the overnight stay and was more than enough to start the day. I asked for omelette eggs, served with potatoes, bacon, bread, and coffee. The on-site liquor store was another nice surprise, with local options I hadn't seen elsewhere, including Saskatoon Berry liqueur that reminded me of ice wine. The motel itself is simple and needs a lot of TLC, but the steakhouse and liquor store made the stop worthwhile. A good meal option if you're passing through Assiniboia.

We drove 35 minutes for the advertised two-for-one 8 oz NY steak special, but left deciding we wouldn't come back, before we'd even finished eating. My wife and I both ordered medium steaks with stuffed potatoes and vegetables. Mine arrived very well done, with no spring when pressed. I checked with the server that I'd ordered medium, and she confirmed it. My wife's steak was overdone too, and instead of a stuffed potato she got a baked one, plus toast dripping with butter, though she'd asked for dry toast. Both meals went back. The replacement steak was half medium and half well done. The special was no longer on the menu. The owner said it was only offered on Thursday nights, which seemed like a recent change since we're only in Sk on long weekends. Eight of the ten beer taps weren't working, so I ordered a bottle and was charged the price of a pint. The stuffed potatoes were poorly done, with most of the potato still in the skin and what looked like mashed potato topped with shredded tex mex cheese. The bill listed each meal separately instead of the advertised $21.99 for two, plus $3 for each stuffed potato. With one bottle of beer and a 6 oz house wine, the total was $84. There were no apologies or discounts for the kitchen problems, and we didn't get the two-for-one price. We've been coming for years, including before the current owner took over, but the new owners seem to be cutting costs and corners. Don't arrive expecting much, or you'll likely be disappointed.
