Hidden Acres Cottages

Cabin 12 was the most comfortable of our three stays at Hidden Acres. That king bed was especially comfortable, and it made for another great family vacation. The cottages are older, though they update them a bit each year, and they're clean and have what you need. The owner is accommodating, the service is great, and the location is handy for Cavendish.

We had such a good time at this cottage. Everything was well maintained, and it felt clean, cozy, and comfortable. The staff were really friendly. We even borrowed the host's shovels to collect clams at the beach. Highly recommend!

The owners were so friendly and always welcoming, and the location put us close to restaurants and many attractions. We came to PEI with a large group and were lucky to find this place. Our rooms were clean, cozy, and stocked with everything we needed for the week. There was plenty of shared space for the kids to run around, and we loved the campfire at night. The large, clean pool worked well for several families together. We'd recommend it and would return if we're in town.

The location has some nice points: it's near The Mill restaurant and Cavendish beach, and there's a pool. But check carefully what you're booking, because alongside the cottages they have tiny trailers with sliding glass doors. We got a “studio” trailer, and for nearly $500 for two nights it was nowhere near worth the price. I think something like $60 a night would have made more sense. It felt like a low-end youth hostel. Maybe the chalets are better, but this trailer was bad. The mattress was so uncomfortable that my wife barely slept, and I did better on the floor. There was also a sewer-like smell coming up from the drains. Opening the window and switching on the fan helped, but it was still gross. The tiny bathroom had several problems. Shower water covered the whole floor, so your feet got wet even while sitting on the toilet. A short divider or squeegee would help. The toilet was so close to the door that even with our not-long legs, we had to sit sideways. A smaller toilet or different placement might work. The unprotected plugs in the shower/bathroom were worrying, too. The AC remote was in Chinese. I had to find its manual online just to work out how to switch between cooling and heat. English remotes, or a laminated sheet explaining the buttons and screen, would be useful. The grounds were messy, with construction debris and obstacles. The grass needed cutting more often and the edges tidying, and the flower beds were overgrown.
