Aurora Inn

We really enjoyed staying here, and it’s a lovely quiet, cozy place to relax. The restaurant had good food at decent prices, too. Steve and Tracey were friendly, welcoming hosts, and the Inn is clean, beautifully decorated, and attractive both inside and out. Highly recommend.

This locally owned Inn is my first choice whenever I stay in Dawson City. The rooms are clean and pleasant, and there’s a fridge and microwave, plus some kitchen facilities if you want to prepare a meal. The restaurant serves some of the best food in town, with consistently super friendly service.

I stayed in the annex building, 5th avenue B&B. Check-in was straightforward, though you do it at the main Aurora inn first and then go to the other building. They called to make sure I’d arrive on time, since I believe check-in ends at 9 PM. My room had an en-suite bathroom, though some rooms share one, and there was no A/C. Each building has a shared lounge area with couches, a TV, tables, microwave, fridge, and coffee machines. They ask guests to leave shoes in the common area, but you can carry them to your room.

The restaurant dinner was okay, but nothing memorable, and breakfast wasn’t available. Staff were barely around beyond a short check-in conversation. Our room was large and very clean, though we heard people talking and watching TV in other rooms late at night on both nights, so it wasn’t as quiet as we’d hoped. The hotel has a quirky, fairly new feel, and a big, well-equipped shared kitchen sits oddly in the middle of the lobby. The no-shoes rule indoors was fine. Having no elevator wasn’t: as older guests, we had to repack our overnight things because our suitcase was too heavy to carry upstairs, and the young person at the desk didn’t offer help.
