Economy Inn

The walls were extremely thin, and a large group nearby was so loud that our evening and rest were disrupted. Before midnight, while the front desk was supposed to be staffed, we called about the disturbance but nobody answered. The property is older but clean, and check-in staff were pleasant. After that, service went downhill. When we asked for extra pillows, the staff member was rude and hung up abruptly. The delivery felt uncomfortable too, as it seemed like the staff member was trying to look into the room. With the poor service, lack of professionalism, and noise, we wouldn't stay here again.

The smell was intense, like motor oil, and the bedside table, vanity, and TV stand felt sticky and disgusting. When I sat at one end of the bed, the mattress tipped up and Cheetos flew off the other end. They weren't mine. There were long black hairs under the bedding on the sheets, also not mine. I unplugged the lamp, but it kept flickering through the night. And the 1am train sounded like it was coming right through the walls. The stink!

Someone was kicking a door and shouting in the hallway at 2am. It seemed like nobody was on night shift. I called the front desk several times from my own phone, since the room phone didn't work at all, but got no help. The walls were very thin too, as we could hear a couple five doors down. The room and whole building were filthy. The bathroom and floors were sticky, disgusting, and heavily stained, and there was a strange smell in our room. I've stayed in better places for less money, and definitely won't be back.

The rugs looked like they hadn't been vacuumed, and the bed was dirty, as though the sheets hadn't been changed. There was black mold in the bathroom and snot wiped on the door. The main door wouldn't close properly. The lobby and hallways were already dirty and disgusting, which should have warned us about the room. At check-in, the front desk lady was rude and acted like we were bothering her. When my boyfriend went to tell the owner about the problems, the owner was rude and confrontational. He said that's how his cleaning staff do their work and offered us a refund if we checked out. We discussed it and decided to leave, but at checkout we were told there would be no refund. The owner said we were lucky to get the room because they don't accept cash or debit Visa, and made it seem like returning our deposit was a favor. He said we wouldn't find another hotel at his price, though we've stayed in nicer, safer hotels for the same amount. He claimed the hotel is always full but also offered us another room. When we said we'd contact the Health Inspector, he told us to go for it. After getting home, we contacted the Health Inspector and sent photos of the conditions. We left stressed and disappointed. If you want a safe, clean, enjoyable stay, don't stay here.
