The View Hotel

At $200-260 a night, I’d expect a lot more. There’s no breakfast, and for the value, plenty of people may decide to go to Vanderhoof instead. The place felt unclean: grime on the shower tiles, an old dirty kitchen, dust everywhere, and sticky surfaces that hadn’t been wiped down. The carpet was so dirty I wouldn’t take my shoes off. The sheets seemed okay, but the duvet inserts weren’t cleaned and weren’t enclosed. To me, this is worth $95 a night at best.

The kitchenette was a great extra, especially having a real fridge and freezer. The rooms were clean and nice, and the staff were friendly.

I was stuck in town after my vehicle broke down, so I didn’t really have another option. The lake view from my room was amazing, the room itself was clean and great, and the young woman who checked me in was awesome. She even let me arrive early, and the service was great. Still, for what they charge, I expected at least a continental breakfast. Even with that view, I didn’t feel the stay was worth the price.

I stay here every week, and the rooms are always spotless. It’s a small community, so I think the hotel deserves five stars for what it offers. There’s rarely noise after 7 pm, and each floor has water coolers. The decor is tasteful, and having an elevator and a 24-hour front desk is a nice bonus. Every room has a fridge and coffee maker, and the kitchenette rooms are well stocked. The lakeside rooms have breathtaking views.
