The room looks out onto a brick enclosed courtyard and the sky, and the lack of a view was a downside for me. I wouldn’t book this suite again for that reason. Still, I was pretty happy with my four nights in Suite 304 in mid January 2026, especially for about $520 total. The room was spotless, the queen bed was very comfortable, and I could control the temperature. The full kitchen had a stove, oven, kettle, toaster, and microwave, but no coffee maker or instant coffee. The room sign promised instant coffee and tea, but there was only Earl Grey. I was really craving coffee in the cold rain, and the cleaners gave me some from their own supply on day three. Communication before arrival and for check-in was entirely contactless but seamless. Great location, with pizza corner half a block away and plenty of food and tourist options in walking distance. Netflix was on the TV, I could sign into my own streaming services, and there was a charging port in the bedside lamp. I heard some noise Thursday night with the windows open, but nothing on the other nights. Noise and the view are things to keep in mind.

The room was lovely for a midwinter stay, with stylish decor, a cozy couch and TV, a well stocked kitchenette, and a glass shower. I slept better than I had in years on the comfortable mattress and with the gorgeous linens. There were thoughtful extras like earplugs and dish soap, and the unit felt self contained while still being within walking distance of everything downtown. Beautiful property and good value for the money. Be aware that there’s no staff on site and you check yourself in at the front door. My entry codes didn’t work, and another guest was having trouble too, so I helped him get in. Support replied to my text quickly, but the entrance tablets were blank, so I used my phone to check in again and resend the codes as they instructed. I eventually got in and help came quickly, but it was frustrating to have nobody on site for check-in problems. Support said the tablets may be updating at unforeseen times, so tech issues are possible.

I slept a little poorly because I could still hear some outside noise with the windows shut, though that may bother some people more than others. The glass door in the bathing area also seemed broken, which was inconvenient, and I hope management fixes it. Otherwise, my stay at Cameo Hotel downtown was comfortable, clean, and cozy. The spacious, well designed room had all the essentials, including a full kitchen with plenty of utensils and glasses and a coffee machine. Everything was neat and well maintained, and the welcoming feel made it easy to relax after a long day. I’d give it five stars overall.

I paid over $200 to stay here and ended up locked out of the hotel room. At 11pm, the lobby door code failed every time I tried it. The emergency number went unanswered. I messaged and got a reply, but the person or bot accused me of not following the check-in instructions and made it sound like I was the problem, even though I had followed them. I waited for another guest and got inside about 20 minutes later, with no thanks to the emergency line. I’d hoped to go out in the morning and return before checkout, but couldn’t risk it with a lobby code that didn’t work. I thought the hotel was great before this, but this was enough for me. Never again, and I do not recommend this poor excuse for a hotel.

We spent seven nights here. Facing Barrington meant the usual busy downtown sounds, and the only time they disturbed us at all was Saturday night, which wasn’t surprising. There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, good shopping, and museums and other sights within easy walking distance. Our room was large, with two good bedrooms and a comfortable living room and kitchen. The kitchen had everything, including a stove and oven, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, K-pod machine, and good cookware and dinnerware. This is an incredible little hotel, and we’ll definitely stay again.
