The beachside location and friendly staff made this a great stop along the Cabot Trail, with restaurants and town close by. I was unsure after reading reviews because I’m picky about hotels, but the place was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and our room had the amenities we expected. Heat and air conditioning worked fine, and there were no odors. It’s a little dated, which seems understandable for the area. Check-in and checkout were easy. I’d recommend it. The earlier reviews may reflect improvements, or perhaps it just wasn’t as bad as they made it sound.

Our family had a lovely time here while skiing at Ski Cape Smokey. The deluxe ocean suite gave us and the kids plenty of room, and we especially enjoyed the ocean view from both the room and balcony. Angela at the front desk was kind and quick to respond. We’d happily stay again.

March has a special feel by the ocean, with beautiful snowy scenery. Glenghorm Beach Resort is partly open in winter, and we visited during spring break last week. Our room was clean and roomy, and the staff made us feel very welcome. The off-season discounts were nice too. I’d recommend a visit! 😊

We arrived on a busy weekend around 8pm with two kids and no booking, and Alice, if I have her name right, started calling around to find us somewhere. Just as I was heading back to the car disappointed, she came out to say a room had opened up. It was right by the ocean, so we fell asleep to the waves and woke to a gorgeous view. The team also helped us find dinner nearby and breakfast for my picky eater. The bed was comfortable, and the room had a stove, sink, plates, cups, and cutlery. I’ll ask for that same room next time. They’ve got a customer for life whenever we’re back. Koodos to the staff!

The beach at the bottom of the property is nice, and our room was clean. The towels were bright white and had no stains. That was about the extent of the good points for room 110. The place felt run down and badly overpriced. At $309 a night, I felt ripped off. We’ve traveled a lot, and even allowing for the Cabot Trail location, I’d put this at $160-$180 at most, and even that feels debatable. We told someone on the hospitality team how we felt when checking out. The restaurant was open only for limited hours and didn’t feel inviting, so despite counting on it for convenience, we went looking elsewhere to eat. We wouldn’t return or recommend it, especially at this price. The room looked like it hadn’t been updated since the 1980s. The walls were paper thin, and we could hear people next door and below us. The doors were in rough shape, with guests slamming them to close them until nearly midnight. We could also hear guests talking outside and traffic on the Cabot Trail even with the windows shut. The windows were hard to open and close, and daylight showed around three sides of the front door. The locks didn’t feel secure. Shower pressure was terrible, and the small beds had extremely hard, uncomfortable mattresses. There was water staining on the ceiling from what looked like a substantial old leak, and plastic sheeting still covered the outside peak of the roof, as shown in an attached photo. We called before booking to ask about bringing our dog and the charges. We were told, “there could be an additional $30 charge should the room need extra cleaning as a result of your dogs being with you”. On arrival, the $30 was charged automatically, and we were told everyone with a dog pays it. That wasn’t what we’d been told when booking. I’ve never felt the need to write a negative review before, but this one felt justified.
