We stayed at Jasper House Bungalows shortly before the July 2024 wildfire, and it was a real highlight of our Canadian Rockies trip. The accommodation was cosy, with beautiful river views. It’s a great place to enjoy nature away from a crowded city while still being very close to Jasper town. Thanks to the unique location, we saw wildlife around the property 🐻. It was quite expensive, but we didn’t regret choosing it. We’d definitely visit again!

Easy access to the river shore was a lovely bonus, and there are longer riverside trails leading to gorgeous mountain views over the winding aqua river valley. The bungalows were much better than the typical hotels we’d stayed at during our trip through Alberta, Canada. We’d originally been assigned a bungalow in the middle of a parking lot, baking in the sun. With no air conditioning and my heat intolerance, that wasn’t workable. Ashley at the front desk made the stay memorable: she compassionately went out of her way to arrange a better shaded place, help with luggage, and bring fans and ice. She stayed cheerful through it all, more than anyone else we encountered on the whole vacation. You’re lucky to have her.

The bungalows are cute and the setting is gorgeous, but the service and restaurant made the stay pretty disappointing. For $400 a night, it didn’t feel worth it. We took our hungry kids to the restaurant, and they waited an hour for chips and dip, which we’d ordered as an appetizer. I checked twice with the waiter that he’d put it in that way, and he said yes. A different waitress finally brought it out, then our food arrived a minute later, after apparently sitting around. The pizza was dried out and the rest of the food was terrible.

The restaurant was a huge surprise. We ate at Elk Village Restaurant twice, and all the different dishes our group tried on both nights were fantastic. The food’s quality, taste, and presentation really blew us away. The setting is lovely too: there are lots of chairs along the Athabasca River for morning coffee or an evening drink, and you might spot elk wandering around if you’re lucky. We stayed two nights with our family in units 49 and 51. The bungalows are dated, but ours were clean and cozy. I’d love to return to Jasper House. Don’t miss the restaurant!

We loved our stay at Jasper House Bungalows and would definitely recommend it to friends and family. The location is incredible, and the friendly staff helped make it a great place to stay. Our bungalow was clean and everything worked, including the lights and fridge. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking, and there was complimentary coffee. The bed was comfortable, with pillows in different thicknesses, which my husband loved. Some room updates would be welcome, like newer furniture and hooks for jackets by the front door. We did have an issue with the bungalow, but the General Manager resolved it very well. Thanks a lot!
