Dwell Aparthotels

For our larger family, the three-bedroom unit gave us room to spread out and have some privacy. This was our second stay with Dwell Aparthotels, and it’s our preferred place in Kingston. It feels like a home away from home, with a kitchen, laundry, linens, and separate sitting, dining, and bedroom spaces. The location is great, just a few minutes’ walk from Princess Street and its many shops and dining options. Check-in and checkout communication was clear and helpful. 10/10.

The only thing we liked was the location, within walking distance of the waterfront. We booked the basement suite at 216 Sydenham Street 1, Kingston for three nights. It was stylish and nicely designed, but impractical, with decorations we had to move just to make room for essentials. We wouldn’t stay again. The experience was extremely disappointing and nothing like the glowing reviews we’d read. Although photos clearly showed that two cars could park without blocking anyone, the host, Liz, insisted on charging an extra $25+tax per night for the second vehicle. That felt unfair when we had already paid $1500 for three nights. Liz was also unresponsive at times, even after reading our messages. At night, the HVAC system from the upstairs unit hummed loudly and disrupted our sleep. Several advertised essentials were missing, including salt, pepper, and oil, so we had to buy our own. We found worms throughout the unit, including on the bedroom floor, and there was a stain on the pillow. The bathroom fan didn’t work, and there was no can opener, so we had to buy one. The advertised “workstation” was a low kitchen table or uncomfortable bar stools, neither suitable for working long hours. The backyard is shared with other Airbnb guests, which could be awkward if several groups wanted to use the only BBQ.

We had a good stay in this roomy apartment. It was nicely decorated, clean throughout, and the beds were comfortable. Having a washer and dryer made our trip easier. The location was convenient too, close to restaurants and shops.

We had plenty of space for our group of six, including room to gather, and the kitchen had everything we could possibly need. Colby House was clean when we arrived, with thoughtfully chosen décor and a great atmosphere. We got to check in early and check out late, and the whole check-in was smooth and easy. The service from the start was exceptional. I’d definitely book with Dwell Aparthotels again.
