Quality Inn

The breakfast was very good, with lots of healthy choices, and plenty of guests went back for seconds. It's not food from a five-star chef, but it's a nice, balanced breakfast. The service was wonderful and the front desk was attentive. Our beds were big and comfortable. A few fixtures looked a bit dated, though everything worked just fine.

For this price, what more could you want? The staff were extremely kind and responsive, and I was pleasantly surprised by daily housekeeping. I've had a high-end brand stay where I didn't even get that with platinum status. Breakfast was kept fresh and stocked, and was definitely acceptable. My bed was comfortable, though the pillows were just okay. Even on the highway side, I couldn't hear road noise. It's a good budget option, but the quality seems to vary from room to room, which can happen in older hotels that haven't been renovated.

My colleague in room 234 told me a rat and a mouse had come into the building through a hole near the front door. I saw a mouse wandering the first-floor halls myself. The front desk seemed to know about it but had no solution. There were other serious problems during my stay in Kitchener. I couldn't get the room temperature right, it was either too hot or too cold, and I never slept well. In the end, I unplugged the register. The fridge froze my fresh fruit and vegetables within hours, despite my setting it according to the instructions. None of the food could be saved, a $25 loss, and reception heard my concern but did nothing. On Monday, Dec 8, I woke up terribly itchy. While checking my back in the bathroom, I saw what looked like a cracking or rusting toilet bowl, then realized there was human feces on the outside. It wasn't my mess. Worse, I had bed bug bites all over my back. I left behind the clothes I'd brought to the Inn because I wasn't about to take bed bugs home. I reported the bathroom and bites at once, but they said someone would investigate in the morning. I asked to move rooms and they couldn't accommodate me then. The sliding door also didn't lock when I arrived. There was a bar on the other side of the glass door, but I still didn't feel safe, and they couldn't move me when I asked. Broken fridges and unclean bathrooms are bad enough, but I absolutely do not recommend staying here if you don't want bed bugs.

The staff in the dining area were kind and generous in the morning. Our room was spacious, clean, and quiet, and the bed with its many pillows made for a comfortable sleep. This is easily the best affordable quality hotel choice in the Waterloo area. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
