7 West Motel

The room itself was decently clean, and the beds looked clean and well cared for. WiFi was also very good. Those were the upsides for me. The water had such a strong smell, with a bathroom notice saying the well contains iron, sulphur, and metals, that it felt like swimming in rust. We also waited outside for the owner, who arrived two hours late. The bed felt like sleeping on the floor, my pillowcase had a stain, the shower drain and nozzle were rusty, and the noisy AC kept switching on and off, making sleep difficult. I'd only recommend this motel if you don't care much about clean running water.

The furniture looked newer, the bed seemed clean, and the A/C worked. That was about the extent of the positives. The room smelled strongly of Febreeze trying to cover cigarette smoke, possibly from chain-smoking neighbours in the adjoining suite. We had to keep the window shut. There was dirt, rust, or discoloration on the fixtures, walls, and doors, plus shoddy repairs like white tape over the shower shelf and three broken hooks. The water stank despite a notice explaining the natural odor of the well water, so I bought distilled water for brushing my teeth and showering. Our family member arrived early to get access to the rooms, but the office stayed closed past its 2:30 pm opening time. The attendant came more than an hour later, and check-in was still slow. Another guest looked into his room, left the key at the office, shook his head, and went straight back to his vehicle. My first impression was of a place that may once have been nicely built but has deteriorated. I can't see how it has a 3-star rating, and I'd only stay if there were no viable alternatives. We were there for one night, and I won't return. I attached photos of the room. If you want to get rid of an employee, send them here for a few nights and they'll get the hint.

I didn't actually stay, so I can't comment on the accommodation. I called to cancel my booking, and he was so considerate and sweet about it. Honest, kind-hearted person, and the service was the best I've had.

The owner was cheerful and helpful, and made the stay feel more comfortable. The rooms are spacious and quiet, just right for a quick overnight stop. I'd stay again if I travel through here.
