Best Western Plus Meridian Hotel

The breakfast room was set out nicely, and the food was very good. The hotel itself is clean and new, but the rooms and hallways were extremely hot. We checked in late, and after turning off the heat and opening the window, it took until after 4 in the morning for the room to cool down. That kind of heat is unhealthy, especially for older guests. It's a proven fact that cooler temperatures help you sleep better. I like a cozy room and usually choose Best Western, but I can't see myself coming back to this hotel.

What makes this location stand out from other Best Western hotels is its second-floor skywalk into the nearby Service Centre. You can go straight inside without stepping outdoors, which is a huge plus in winter. The Service Centre has two full-size ice hockey arenas, other sports courts and recreation areas, plus play spaces for children. A staff member also told us there'd be a farmer’s market there the next day, a nice example of how connected the hotel is to the community. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the waterslide pool and 24-hour gym are solid amenities. But that indoor connection to such a large, busy recreational complex is the real difference. Among the Best Western properties I've stayed at, this one stands out.

I've had so many disappointing stays at BW properties elsewhere that I don't use them anymore, except for BW in Lloydminster. For the nightly price, it's one of the best hotels I know. The breakfast is phenomenal, the rooms are well maintained, and the staff go out of their way to help with requests. I recommend it to everyone.

Restaurants share the parking lot, and there are other little shops nearby, so it's convenient if you don't want or can't go far. The rooms are nice, breakfast is really good, and the staff are friendly. The treadmill in the fitness room wasn't working, a small inconvenience. I'd stay again. 🙂
