The Dockside Inn & Restaurant

We were driving by when the balcony restaurant overlooking the bay caught our eye. Dinner was amazing with that view, and the serving team was wonderful. We were looking for a place to stay for the night, and they had availability, again with that beautiful view. We loved it all. My husband especially wants to mention the coconut cream pie, which he loved.

We had a lovely visit to The Dockside Inn & Restaurant in Lunenburg with our guests from Boston traveling on Norwegian Cruise Line. The view was gorgeous, and everyone made us feel welcome. Mike and the staff were friendly and took great care of us. The clam chowder, fresh fish, and lobster were some of the best seafood we’ve had in Nova Scotia, and the homemade desserts were spectacular. Safi Seaside Tours is happy to recommend this local restaurant to summer visitors, and we look forward to bringing more guests back.

I called the restaurant the day after our meal to explain how unhappy I was, but the manager wouldn't budge. I mentioned a nearby place that charges $35 for lobster with salad and rolls; he basically said his prices were what they had to be. We were two people eating there last night, and the bill came to over $200 with tax and tip. Each of us ordered the lobster dinner, priced at $65 and $71, with a 1 1/4 lobster and vegetables that were very overcooked. The fries included with mine were tasty, while my companion's salad cost an extra $6. We also had iced tea, a small Perrier, and two decaf coffees afterward. I know we should have asked what “Market Price” meant at this restaurant, but it never crossed our minds that local seafood and a few vegetables would cost so much. I hate writing negative reviews, but don't eat at the Dockside unless you're fine paying $65 for a small lobster dinner.

Right in old town Lunenburg, with a harbour view, this inn has basic rooms that worked really well for me. The friendly innkeeper family has two generations working there, and my room was quiet. I had a comfortable bed, loveseat, table and chair, plus a large TV. The shower was hot with fantastic water pressure. There was also a microwave, dishes, mini fridge, and Keurig with K-cups and milk, and they even supplied dish soap. I had a fantastic stay and would gladly come back.
