Homewood Suites by Hilton Toronto Mississauga

I spent a full day at Homewood Suites by Hilton for an off-site meeting, though I didn’t stay overnight. The conference room was tidy, well equipped, and a good fit for our group, and the hotel felt clean and welcoming. We had a typical North American breakfast, fresh and satisfying, and friendly, attentive service throughout the day. Lunch was tasty and nicely presented: grilled chicken skewers, salad, tzatziki, potatoes, and rice. The carrot cake with caramel sauce was a nice finish, if a little sweet. Near the lobby, the dining area was bright, clean, and comfortable for meals and breaks. Several local restaurants, a theatre, and shopping options are within walking distance. It seemed like a well-managed place for meetings or small events, and probably a good option for an overnight stay too.

It’s a pretty good place to stay, and we’d go back, but arriving by car near midnight turned into a parking problem. The sister property shares the lot and was apparently running “park and fly.” Many cars had snow on them, as if they’d been sitting there a long time, and there was nowhere else nearby to park. The front desk woman said she could see someone leaving in five minutes. I waited outside until a spot finally opened up, but the whole situation was far from acceptable.

The breakfast was delicious, the room was beautifully maintained, and the lobby felt welcoming from the moment I arrived. The staff were friendly, smartly dressed, and warm and professional. Even though this is a limited-service hotel, they treated us as if it were full service. Peter, the General Manager, leads an outstanding team. I wish I could give 10 stars. I’m definitely planning to return, and can’t wait to make more memories in Mississauga. Highly recommended, and already looking forward to my next stay.

We live only 5km from this hotel, but I booked a Valentine’s night away with my wife and it was a huge mistake. Room 100 was next to the elevators, which made noise whenever they ran and affected my sleep. Worse, the shower was clogged, with water above my ankles, and only room-temperature at best. I called the front desk around 7-8pm. A man in snow shoes and a jacket, maybe Desmond, came with a housekeeping woman. He said he’d clear the drain and that the water was this way because the hotel was busy. I took him at his word. He had to fetch tools, then spent time unclogging it, adding another 30 minutes when I couldn’t get ready. My wife tried the shower and couldn’t tolerate the temperature either. I had to use hot water from the sink, which worked fine, and we missed our reservation. Since Valentine’s Day restaurants were busy, we had to find another place and ended up at Boston pizza instead of the keg. The night was ruined. The water was still cold at 9:30 am and again at 11:30 am. I called the desk and said I needed to find out if I was crazy. Carolyn said she couldn’t leave the desk and that I’d have to wait about 30 minutes for maintenance, since he was out. Amelio came to the room and confirmed I wasn’t imagining it, saying there was some kind of boiler issue. I asked if paying guests deserved better, and he said yes. Carolyn barely offered an apology and didn’t seem to care. An offer of compensation or a place to get a warm shower would have been nice, but I didn’t even bother asking. I thought there might be some Homewood guarantee, but she didn’t care, so it didn’t seem worth asking. I booked another night next door at Hilton spark to make up for the bad Valentine’s, even though I’d already paid for this hotel. It was cheaper, and I’ve attached the receipt to show I’m still loyal to Hilton. At least I got a hot shower after going without one for a while. I can’t believe I stayed somewhere that offers a fancy breakfast but can’t provide a basic shower. This useless hotel took our money but gave us no value: cold water and employees who didn’t care. I learned three employees’ names during this awful stay. Maybe management will actually read this and do something, but based on my experience, I don’t expect much or anything from this place. We live 5 km away, yet booked two hotel nights and needed extra babysitting help. This was the first miserable Valentine’s Day experience of its kind for us as a married couple. Thanks for ruining our night.
