Dancing Bear Inn Hostel

I only planned on a few nights, but ended up staying much longer. The hostel had a cosy, home-like feel, with kind, accommodating staff, friendly guests, and lots of different events. It’s easily my favourite hostel I’ve stayed at in Canada. I loved it there and highly recommend visiting.

This hostel has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. You can meet people if you want, while still being comfortable doing your own thing. The common areas are welcoming, and the kitchen makes it easy to cook your own meals. It felt safe and easy, and the place was super clean and well cared for. Nelson is easy to explore on foot from here, whether you want coffee, shops, or a walk down to the water. I had a really great stay at the Dancing Bear Inn and would definitely come back. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable, central place in Nelson.

After I somehow left my entire bag behind at the hostel, the staff went above and beyond to help me get it back. I’m incredibly thankful. My friends and I were welcomed warmly at check-in, and the staff explained everything we needed to know and gave us lovely suggestions for places to eat and explore. The building was beautiful, with common areas that kept its original charm. I especially loved warming up by the fireplace in the main room after being out in the rain. Our room was clean and comfortable, beyond what I expected. At checkout, the staff recommended local stops for my road trip, and some became highlights of the trip. The location, clean and comfortable rooms, and kind staff make this a place I’d happily return to and recommend.

The lobby was a comfortable spot to relax and get some work done. I stayed in a 6 bed room, and even though I booked the wrong month, they managed to fit me in. Excellent hostel, very friendly and professional.
