The price was very reasonable, and the motel is cute from the outside, though it could use some TLC. The location is great, especially across from the beach. We weren’t impressed with the winter-hours setup. No hours were posted, so we didn’t know when anyone would be at reception. We were told to come downstairs in the morning if we needed anything. For all three days, we went down for soap and toilet paper, but nobody was there. We also tried calling to add a night, with no one to answer and no voicemail option. The pool was closed, and the website didn’t say so, even though it was one reason we booked.

During my stay, I felt I was treated in a racist and discriminatory way by some staff, which made an already disappointing experience worse. After checkout, they charged $250 to my account as a “cleaning fee,” though I left the room perfectly clean. I have photos and proof. I contacted management, but the manager ignored my complaint. I want the $250 refunded and a clear written explanation for the charge. I’d advise others to be careful before booking. I’ll post updates when this is resolved.

After years of staying at this hotel, I’ve decided this will be my last visit. The check-in experience was the worst I’ve had in all my travels across Canada, Europe, and elsewhere. An employee named Laurie was disrespectful and unprofessional, wouldn’t listen, seemed extremely irritable, and spoke harshly to the children. When they simply asked about the restroom or checking into the room, she said, “I don’t want any disturbance, it’s not my problem, and don’t bother me with your requests.” At first I thought she might be stressed by the workload and busy season, but the rude behavior continued. I felt there may have been discrimination in how we were treated. It left me very sad and disappointed.

Book somewhere else. I reserved a room the same day but worked late and didn’t arrive until around 8 pm. The office was closed, nobody was there, and no one answered the phone. I had to book another hotel, then Slumber Lodge charged me for a night I couldn’t stay because they wouldn’t let me in.
