Motel des Cèdres

We brought 30 people for a leadership retreat, and everyone in the group liked the place. It’s a quiet, clean, attractive spot, with comfortable queen and double rooms and helpful staff who gave good service. It’s also well placed for visiting Magog, Coaticook, and Sherbrooke.

The price was among the lowest in the area, and the room had Wi-Fi, AC, a fridge, and coffee. The beds were comfortable, on the firm side, which suits me. It was a rainy weekend, so we didn’t use the pool, but the outdoor area is beautifully arranged. Though the road is only several meters away, it was very quiet, with the pool and house helping block the sound. It wasn’t crowded during our stay, and nights were peaceful. The room was generally clean. I noticed some stains from ordinary use behind the bathroom door, but that was all.

The kind, helpful woman at the front desk knew her stuff. It was my first night in a motel, and I found it quiet, clean, and comfortable. I slept really well and had a wonderful game the next day. This motel and my game were the highlights of Sherbrooke. I’ll come back.

I was really disappointed by how this was handled. The room was worn and old, though I understood that given the price. After checkout, I noticed a deposit had been charged to my card, so I called to ask about it. The receptionist was rude and pushy, accused us of damaging a table we hadn’t even used, and showed a photo as “proof.” They couldn’t remember our room number, yet said they remembered the damage. Later, the owner texted that no deposit had actually been charged and it was only an authorization. If so, I don’t understand why we were accused of causing damage. The explanations didn’t line up, and the whole thing felt unprofessional. I don’t recommend this place.
