College Park Bed and Breakfast

Justin and Shirley were so hospitable that they're the main reason I'd consider coming back. They even invited me to a get-together with their friends. Since I hadn't realized there'd be no breakfast, Justin asked Shirley to make me dumplings when he heard I didn't know where I'd find food on Christmas morning. They wouldn't accept payment when I checked out. I was there over Christmas to visit my mother at Sherbrooke Community Centre, which is within walking distance. My flight was delayed, and Justin stayed up to let me in. The place is in a fully residential area, and the nearest corner store is a 10 to 15 minute walk. That store, at Acadia and Carleton, is remarkably well stocked.

The host is very friendly and the service is great. The price is good, and you can get there by bus. There's a shared bathroom, which was fine for me. Noise often carries from the neighboring rooms, though if you're alone or in a small group it probably won't matter much. 😁👍

The owner was friendly and the place was clean. The shared fridge and microwave came in handy, and we used the communal kitchen table and chairs. It's in a quiet spot near shopping, with restaurants close by. Still, this was the worst stay on our coast-to-coast trip, and we won't return. I found it on Expedia, where the family room came up as $80 when I searched for one adult and two boys. After booking, I was told there'd be another $40 for the extra person. I paid $120 before tax, even though I knew hotels had rooms for less. The owner said he was new to Expedia and didn't know how to use it. Paying more for a B&B than a hotel was disappointing. The listing also said the room had air conditioning, but ours didn't. The owner said the upper-floor rooms were air conditioned. My boys were surprised the bathroom was shared, their first B&B experience. The lighting was poor, with just a desk lamp and another lamp attached to the side, and the TV was very old. The beds were okay, but below the standard of hotels we've visited.

The owner was friendly and happy to share local information. Our room was very clean and the breakfast was good, with a real Canadian style. The location was great too. I'd definitely stay here again.
