We were just passing through and needed somewhere to sleep. The room was warm, clean, and roomy, and the bed was absolute heaven. It also cost a little less than other places in the same category. Having Chop and Denny’s attached was a bonus. We had an amazing dinner at Chop, which was packed and had a great atmosphere. The servers and bartenders were really friendly and kept checking that we were okay. We had the beet goat cheese salad, seafood chowder, and Neptune steak. Our room had a King bed and Euro Shower, with glass on the side open to the room and a blind. 10/10 experience.

The temperature control worked perfectly. I like a really warm room, 26 degrees, and a lot of hotels won't let me set the heat that high, but this one did. The rooms were very clean and quiet, which matters most to me. I'll definitely stay here again when I'm back in Saskatoon.

Our communities had a Men's conference, and Sandman Hotel was welcoming and considerate. We enjoyed the spacious, quiet room, and the staff and front desk were more than amazing. I was satisfied with our stay and strongly recommend this place.

UPDATE: Still no call or response from the manager two weeks later. After a long day and more than nine hours driving from Winnipeg, I arrived around 9 p.m. on November 12, travelling from Ontario to Edmonton. I showered, took out my contact lenses, and put my laundry in a washer. The only dryer was occupied. There are two washers and two dryers, but one washer-dryer is out of order, leaving just one of each for guests. I came back about 30 minutes later when the wash was done, but the dryer was still in use. Around 10:40 p.m. it was free, so I put my clothes in for an hour and a half. Without my contacts, I hadn't clearly seen the laundry room hours sign when I started the dryer. When I came back after the timer, the door was locked, and I could read the sign. I asked the front desk to let me in. My clothes were still damp, so I set the dryer for another hour and deliberately left the laundry room door open so I wouldn't have to ask reception again. But when I returned, the door had been closed again. At the desk, the staff member repeatedly cut me off and wouldn't let me explain that I hadn't added any laundry and the dryer wasn't working properly. He said it was “up to him” whether he opened the door and accused me of adding more clothes, which I absolutely hadn't done. He watched me take my still damp clothes out. When I asked his name, he ignored me at first, then finally answered. His hostile, dismissive tone and refusal to listen felt extremely unprofessional and upsetting. After the long day, I was holding back tears. After over 2.5 hours of drying, the laundry was still wet. The malfunctioning dryer was outside my control, but I was left without clean clothes I could wear the next morning, when I had to get up early for a scheduled BMW service appointment. The whole thing added a lot of unnecessary stress after a long travel day. I felt disrespected and deeply uncomfortable. If I hadn't been so tired, I'd have checked into another hotel and asked for a refund for my second night. I'm raising this in the hope they repair the dryer and address the staff member's conduct. This has completely put me off this location, and I'll never stay here again.

The bed, shower, and toilet were clean, but this was disappointing from beginning to end. I've stayed at Sandman Signature Saskatoon South several times and had good experiences before, so the decline across so many areas stood out. I can no longer recommend it, and hope management deals with the problems. The room was very cold when I entered because the AC was set to cool at 14°C instead of heat, and several drawers wouldn't stay shut. Cleaning was also poor: a bottle of vitamins was tucked under the desk chair, apparently left by a previous guest; the chair had visible stains; the back of the makeup mirror had fingerprints and makeup on it when pulled from the wall; and there was hair on the coffee table. The attached Denny’s, which I believe is independently operated, was inconsistent. Dinner the night before was decent, and the Lumberjack Slam took about 15-20 minutes, which was fine. Breakfast the next morning arrived in about five minutes, even though it was the same order. Most of it seemed microwaved or reheated. The bacon, sausage, ham, and pancakes were lukewarm, and the butter hadn't even started to melt. Staff scolded a hotel guest for entering from the hotel side instead of checking in at the front. The sign had been very visible the night before but was tucked away in the morning, so it was easy to miss. Surprising for a place that advertises multiple service awards. At checkout, they said they couldn't print my invoice because I booked online. I've lived in hotels full-time for over 15 years and have always received a paper invoice at checkout, including here before when booking online. This is the first time I've ever been told otherwise.
