Right downtown Saskatoon, and the service was top notch. We had a good time at both the restaurant and pub. The hotel has a lovely old-fashioned feel, though our room looked stuck in the 80s and could use an update. It was clean, the bathroom was nice and tidy, and the bed was comfortable. We’re planning to return in the summer.

Chad took time to tell me about the building’s history, and his warmth and knowledge made me appreciate the place even more. Mehul and Dennis were just as welcoming, with helpful ideas for things to do around Saskatoon that made the most of my visit. The staff really made the stay memorable. Hotel Senator has plenty of historic character and charm. The atmosphere, thoughtful service, and attention to detail made for an incredible stay. I’d happily recommend it to anyone visiting Saskatoon, you’re made to feel like family.

Clean, small rooms, and good service for a good price. It’s an old hotel with loads of character, and there’s good food and drink nearby. I’d definitely return.

I stay here whenever I’m in town for work. The rooms are lovely and clean, the staff are awesome, and the location is about as central as it gets. The one drawback is the number of homeless people around the main entrance. They don’t always make me feel safe as a woman traveling alone. If the hotel could move them along, this place would be a gem.

The hotel’s location worked perfectly for me, a few minutes on foot from the Saskatchewan River, parks and paths, with Midtown Mall the other way. The downtown bus terminal is an easy five minute walk if you’re taking the airport bus. I was comfortable with the room, bed and cleanliness, and would stay at Hotel Senator again if I return to Saskatoon. I’d seen sharply mixed reviews and wasn’t sure what to expect. I spent one night in a standard room over the Sept 20/21 weekend. It was clean and comfy, with a little coffee station I didn’t use and plenty of towels in the bathroom. The furniture is dated, but that fits the older building and its period style. I could hear people talking on the main street late at night, but still slept well, and didn’t hear the rooms next door or above and below me. The AC vents blew right at the bed and made it cold when the unit kicked in. I mentioned at checkout that they could be angled higher; the staff took the feedback pleasantly, though I don’t know if anything changed. The included breakfast was just pastries, whole fruit, coffee, tea and juice. That was enough for me since I wasn’t hungry, but it wouldn’t suit someone wanting a more substantial meal. Getting in was a little unusual: you press a button to leave the lobby, and ring the bell to enter and wait for staff. Given the number of less fortunate people in the neighbourhood, I could understand the added security for guests and staff. Once you have a key card, you can get in with it. The staff were friendly and let me leave my bag before check-in and again afterward so I could explore. They didn’t know what event was taking place that evening, despite streets being closed a block away. It’d help if staff knew about local events so they could tell guests.
