Top Notch Restaurant & Motel

The owners are sweethearts, and the vintage decor feels nostalgic. The owners’ warmth, along with the wonderful service, made this an ideal breakfast stop. My bacon and eggs with rye toast came exactly as ordered. Everything was delicious, and the coffee was great too.

The room was impeccably clean, and the staff were very responsive. There’s a small fridge, microwave, and coffee machine, and a big room that can easily fit four. It’s a basic motel with what a hiker needs. The tub was roomy, filled quickly, and the water got very hot. TV access was limited, but I brought my tablet with the Rogers cable app and my streaming apps, so I could watch what I wanted. There weren’t many spare outlets, and I maxed them out by myself. The bathroom light and fan share a circuit. I was glad my wife wasn’t with me, because I’d have either woken her going to the bathroom at night or had to pee in the dark!

We only ate at the restaurant, and it was a fantastic experience. The portions were good for the price, and the staff were quick and friendly. 10/10, I’d eat there again.

My husband and I stopped for lunch on August 1st and ordered fish and chips. The fish had so much batter and it was doughy, like half-cooked pancake. I pulled it off and found hardly any fish, just thin, scant pieces inside all that batter. The only good part of the meal was the coleslaw. I paid the bill and left a tip, but I won’t stop here again. The waitress saw me picking off the raw dough and didn’t say anything until I was finished. If you do eat here, I’d suggest the toasted western or bacon and eggs. I saw quite a few people having those for lunch.
