Mountain Retreat Hotel

The pool and slide were a real plus, and the front desk was attentive. My room was clean when I arrived, with very comfortable mattresses and bedding, but housekeeping didn't clean it between nights, even after I asked. The front desk did give me extra towels and garbage bags. It’s in an industrial area near grocery shopping, a good location though not right in the heart of town. I saw a big bear walk by the first night, which I liked, but others might not. The slide could use a cleaning, and the pool room could be brighter. They hold a deposit for 3-5 days, which isn't my favorite policy, though many places do it.

We needed somewhere to sleep between ski days, and for the price it worked out well. The room and building were very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was hot with good pressure. Looks and amenities felt more like a 2.5 star motel, but the price was fantastic. I wouldn't pick it for a nice getaway, though I can't really complain for what we paid. Our towels weren't replaced and the garbage wasn't emptied, but during a pandemic staffing is an issue everywhere. I asked at the desk for clean towels and new bags and had no trouble getting them.

At CAD240++ in high season, it felt quite expensive, though Squamish doesn't have many decent alternatives. The room was decent, everything worked, and it had useful amenities like a coffee machine, microwave, and hair dryer. The location is a plus and the service was friendly, if forgetful. The pool was closed off with a yellow line and out of service. I'd be more inclined to return at a lower price, or if the service improved and the hotel were refreshed, since that would make it better value.

The pool, hot tub, and slide all worked well, and the pool was great. This is a nice little hotel and a convenient base for visiting Whistler. The rooms are spacious enough, and the shower and sink worked decently. The carpet had a few stains, but the sheets had been changed. A good place to stay.
