The location is great and the stay was comfortable, with a clean room and linens. Parking is a struggle, as others have mentioned.

The parking situation was my main complaint. There don't seem to be enough spaces for the number of rooms. Both nights we had to use another property's lot around the corner, as staff advised, then walk five minutes uphill back to the entrance. The other time we squeezed into what seemed to be staff parking. I know space is tight, but the lot feels like it was an afterthought when the hotel was expanded. We had a sixth floor City View room and all we could see was the full parking lot. A higher room facing the harbour might have a great view. The downtown location is great and easy to reach. The hotel is updated, very clean and quiet, and the shower pressure was the best I've seen. The shower head is about seven feet up, so tall people can enjoy it too. The next login in the room was a great addition. The restaurant and room service are on the pricey side, as expected, but the food was tasty and made a good snack. Staff were friendly. Teri at the front desk always greeted us with a genuine smile and conversation. She's knowledgeable and a real asset to the property.

I got to check in early, which I really appreciated, and had a gorgeous top floor room overlooking the harbour. Teri at the front desk was so lovely and really made the stay five stars.

The welcome 10 USD credit for me and one guest per day, or 13 CAD, was hard to use. It seemed to work only in the pantry, not at the lobby resto bar, which could make things awkward for Platinum and Titanium guests wanting the full benefit. We chose the welcome points instead and ate out to avoid making it complicated. The points never posted either, so I'll follow up with Marriott. Aside from that, it was a pleasant stay. Teri left a great impression from the moment I walked in, before she even checked my status level. While we were parking, the reception team got everything ready quickly. When we came back, our room was ready with an upgrade and a fascinating view of the dockside port, where we watched cranes unload ships. It's one of the more unique room views I've had, and not one I've seen at many other Marriott properties. The building itself is interesting too, with the lobby in the middle, floors above and below, and the entrance at ground level. It really added to the feeling of staying in Newfoundland, unlike the competing Delta or Sheraton. Parking across from the lobby was easy to use.

On my fourth trip here, the friendly, effective staff made another good impression. Terry at the front desk is a real gem, and she even gave me a hug this time. The hotel is quiet and comfortable, and close to all the fun stuff st John’s has to offer.
