Grandview Inn

At checkout I made sure the time was still 10:59 a.m. before leaving the room at 10:55, because the security deposit was $200 and the staff member had warned me he could charge me for a second day. Checkout was 11. He came back to knock again while we were packing, just to make sure we were leaving. Earlier, another person had angrily told me my 12-year-old son was making too much noise on the stairs and said people were complaining. I hadn't seen anyone around. I offered to speak with them out of courtesy, but he refused, got angry and told us to leave ASAP. I asked if he knew how to speak to a guest or had any qualifications for the job. He said he had none, in the same angry tone. The trouble started when I called to ask about availability. They said it was the last room and offered a lower price for cash, so I took the bait. When we arrived around 11 p.m., there were only three cars in the lot, all empty, and the place looked like a haunted house. Don't be fooled by the name, it's a Motor Inn in BAD shape. I'd told them I had my family with me, but at arrival they said the price was for two people, not four, and demanded more money. It was already 11:30, we were tired, and I paid extra. There was no microwave or coffee maker, though they said I could BUY one from Reception. The TV had no cable, there was no bedside lamp, and the AC made a weird noise all night. When I asked for blankets and mentioned flies and mosquitoes in the room, the person wasn't happy because he was watching something on his phone. This was a very bad experience. We'd stayed at seven other hotels or motels on this trip and had never had these problems.

After the first night at the Grandview Hotel in Surrey near White Rock, I woke up with numerous bed bug bites all over my body. I reported it to the front desk right away and asked for a refund because the room was unhygienic and disgusting. Management refused any refund or compensation for the physical discomfort and distress. I'm extremely dissatisfied with the stay and with how they handled the issue. Their lack of concern was appalling, and it seems the Grandview Hotel doesn't prioritize guests' health and well-being. I'd strongly advise anyone considering it to look elsewhere. The bed bug problem and terrible customer service made this an experience to avoid.

The sheets on both beds were stained with what looked like blood and other liquids, and there was hair all through them. The bath tub was separated between its upper and lower sections, the towel rack had clearly been ripped off and replaced beside the old holes, and the towels were embroidered RANDALL REALITY. The bathroom fan was plugged, most outlet covers were broken, and the blackout blinds had strange black stains. The walls were stained too, as if someone had tried to clean them but didn't care. The door had apparently been kicked in and was just screwed back together. We went to the front desk and asked for our money back because we didn't want to stay. The gentleman said we had to contact Booking.com. They needed written confirmation from Grandview inn to process a refund, but he wouldn't give verbal or written confirmation and said his manager had to approve it. After an hour and a half of arguing, and even after he spoke to the manager, we still got no refund. We were on a family road trip over a long weekend, and the Grandview inn was the only choice. We booked through Booking.com. As soon as we arrived, alarm bells went off, so I checked the beds and was glad I did. While waiting, I dug around and found out some rooms are rented or supplied as low-income or subsidized housing, which wasn't mentioned on the website. Avoid this place like the plague. Even if it's your last resort, sleep in your car.

The staff were so welcoming, and the rooms were spotless. Had an amazing stay, everything felt just right. Definitely recommend it!
